Christie Lou Mitchell

Candidate for Circuit Judge

Meet Christie

Christie Lou Mitchell is an experienced Florida attorney, a lifelong Orlando resident, and a dedicated professional who has spent her legal career handling matters that have a direct and meaningful impact on families and individuals.

She is running for Circuit Judge because she believes the courtroom should be a place where the law is applied fairly, every person is treated with respect, and decisions are made thoughtfully, without bias or agenda.

Professional Background

Christie earned her Bachelor of Science from Florida State University in 2006 and went on to attend the University of Florida, Levin College of Law. She became licensed to practice law in Florida in 2009.

Since then, Christie has been in private practice, dedicating her career to representing individuals and families in complex and often emotionally charged legal matters. Her practice has required frequent courtroom appearances, careful preparation, and a deep understanding of both the law and the human impact of legal proceedings.

In 2021, Christie earned Board Certification in Marital and Family Law from The Florida Bar. Board Certification is a rigorous distinction requiring substantial experience, peer review, and a comprehensive examination. Board Certification demonstrates mastery of the law, ethical practice, and the judgment needed to handle cases responsibly.

BOARD CERTIFICATION MATTERS

Family and marital cases often involve high emotions, difficult decisions, and lasting consequences. Family law is one of the broadest and most complex areas of civil practice, touching everything from property and business matters to contracts, taxes, trusts, and constitutional issues.

Board Certification can only be earned through rigorous testing, peer review, and professional experience. It reflects not only deep legal knowledge, but also the judgment, professionalism, and careful preparation needed to navigate these complicated cases. Christie’s certification demonstrates her commitment to mastering the law and upholding ethical standards, ensuring she approaches every case with care, diligence, and thoughtful consideration.

Judicial Approach

Christie Lou Mitchell believes a judge’s first responsibility is to the Constitution and the rule of law. The law provides the boundaries within which judges exercise discretion, and her experience allows her to apply that discretion thoughtfully and fairly in each case.

Good judging begins with listening. Every case deserves careful attention to the facts, careful consideration of the law, and an understanding of the real-life impact of judicial decisions. Christie Lou draws on lessons learned from her own life and her experience representing a wide range of families and individuals to ensure every person who appears before the court is treated with dignity, respect, and fairness.

Practicing in the Ninth Judicial Circuit — a community of families, small businesses, and neighbors from many backgrounds — has strengthened Christie Lou’s ability to reach well-reasoned decisions that serve the entire community with consistency, integrity, and thoughtfulness.
